The ambient in-ear monitor that keeps you connected to the stage
In-ear monitors give you a clean mix and protect your hearing. They also cut you off. The crowd disappears, your bandmates sound distant, and the room goes dead. Many musicians pull one earpiece out to get the feeling back, which defeats the hearing protection they paid for.
The 3DME In-Ear Monitor (formerly ASI Audio 3DME) solves the isolation problem with a unique ambient microphone design. A microphone built into each earpiece picks up the real sound of the stage and audience and blends it into your monitor mix. You control the blend from an app on your phone.
Keep your mix. Keep your hearing protection. Keep the room.
Formerly the ASI Audio 3DME
Same product, same technology, new name. The 3DME was previously sold in Australia as the ASI Audio 3DME. It is manufactured by Sensaphonics, and warranty support continues as before. It is available in Australia through Pacific Ears, specialists in musician hearing, ambient monitoring and professional in-ear solutions.
How the 3DME works
Each earpiece has a built-in binaural ambient microphone. The 3DME app lets you blend that live room sound with your monitor feed until it feels right: more crowd on the encore, less bleed during a quiet passage. Your stage awareness is a slider, not a compromise.
The app also gives you a 7-band EQ to shape your sound and a limiter that caps volume peaks before they hurt your ears. Set it once and play the whole show knowing your ears are protected.

In-ear monitoring for single-sided hearing loss
The 3DME includes an improved CROS function for musicians with single-sided hearing loss. When CROS is enabled, sound is routed away from the affected ear entirely, rather than simply copying the microphone signal across. For conditions like Meniere's disease, where sound in one ear can be distorted or uncomfortable rather than just weak, this means the affected ear is not fed a signal it cannot use comfortably.
The CROS function describes what the 3DME does with sound routing. It is not a medical treatment, and it does not diagnose or treat any hearing condition. If you have single-sided hearing loss and are unsure whether the 3DME suits your situation, talk to us or your hearing specialist before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do in-ear monitors make you feel cut off on stage?
Standard in-ear monitors seal your ears, so the room, the crowd and your bandmates can feel distant or missing. The 3DME addresses this with an ambient microphone in each earpiece that blends real stage sound into your mix, so you stay connected without removing an earpiece.
What is an ambient in-ear monitor?
An ambient in-ear monitor lets outside sound in on your terms. The 3DME uses built-in microphones to capture the stage and audience, then mixes that sound with your monitor feed through an app. You get the clean mix and hearing protection of IEMs plus the awareness of an open stage.
Is the 3DME the same as the ASI Audio 3DME?
Yes. The 3DME is the same product and technology previously sold as the ASI Audio 3DME. Only the name has changed, and it is available in Australia through Pacific Ears.
Can I use the 3DME with custom sleeves?
Yes, and it is the best way to wear it. Pacific Ears custom-moulded sleeves improve seal, comfort and isolation control. Buy the 3DME and get 25% off custom sleeves, applied automatically at checkout, with impressions taken at one of 350+ fitting points across Australia.
Does the 3DME work for single-sided hearing loss?
The 3DME has an improved CROS function that routes sound away from the affected ear entirely, which can help where sound in one ear is distorted or uncomfortable, such as with Meniere's disease. It describes a monitoring feature, not a medical treatment; check with us or your hearing specialist if you are unsure.
