Etymotic ER2XR Earphones

Very good sound, good bass response. lacking a little on the highs but i think i prefer a V shape to this more flat harmon shape. I listen primarily to death metal.
Good tip selection for finding right size, however only 1 foam size and foam is required for the sound isolation.
The included foam tips are too big and exert too much pressure on the walls of my ear canal. I had some Shure se215 sized tips on hand which felt much better but would be better if a little longer.
The silicon tips that came on the drivers turned out to fit me the best but not as good sound isolation (medium triple flange)

I bought the comfort cream from pacificears for help protecting my ear canal, at least initially to find the correct size and get my ear canal used to having something deeper inside. This worked well i think.

The general commentary online is that these need to be DEEEEEEEP. I realised i was actually going too deep, and just need the full tip in the canal going deeper slightly degraded the sound and caused discomfort.
Only been using the past few days, but I feel a slight pressure on my ear canal walls for about a minute then that subsides and becomes nearly unnoticeable. I'm thinking that will diminish as i get used to having them in more.

Unfortunately I will need to buy different foam tips that are slightly smaller than the provided ones.
Noted: foam tips range from $5 to $12 per pair, from reputable brands.

I initially bought these for a friend, but as it turns out, I ended up keeping them after a fair trade. And, wow, I'm glad I kept them.

I would call myself an amateur audiophile after a fairly long and expensive headphone and IEM purchasing journey, and I can easily say that I've found my favorite IEM with the Etymotic er2xr.

The sound is a nice and neutral, with a decent amount of bass, but not too overwhelming that it drowns out the mids and highs.

For me, the fit is comfortable. It does feel a little strange the first time, but I got used to it. I can see why the depth might be daunting, but it isn't as bad as you might think.

The main benefit to having them so deep is the noise isolation. I honestly can say that I couldn't hear anything from the outside world with the er2xr's in my ears. The noise isolation is much better than any ANC headphones I've used, and with them naturally blocking out the noise of the outside world, the sound the earphones produce don't have that artificial feeling to it like ANC headphones have. If you are around a lot of noise and want decent sounding earphones, these might be a good choice for you.
The er2xr's are very light, and the cable hardly produce microphonics, but you can hook them over your ears to eliminate any remaining movement sounds.

Pacific Ears' service and communication was exceptional and postage was fast. Also, I chose Pacific Ears because they have the er2xr's the cheapest I could find, and they have free shipping! I'll definitely buy from them again.

“Wonderful, well-balanced sounding earphones”
I’ve only had these a couple of days, but these are my first impressions.
The ER2XR’s sound wonderful, very natural and balanced with a good amount of quality bass. I was worried about the deep insertion of these plugs, but these work fine with the included foam tips plus other foams. Thanks Pacific Ears!
